Scholarships
At Maps, a commitment to education and life-long learning is a part of our roots. After all, we started as a teacher’s credit union almost 90 years ago. That’s why we are proud to award scholarships each year to exceptional local high school seniors. Recipients are selected based on academic achievement, extracurricular activities, demonstrated leadership and community involvement, financial need, and application responses.
2024 Scholarships
For 2024, Maps plans to distribute over $50,000 in scholarships to support local students who plan to continue their education after high school. Several scholarships are designated for students of color, first-generation college students, and Career Technical Education (CTE) students. Preference will be given to Maps youth members. All scholarship awards are selected by a scholarship review committee, except the Phil Frey Memorial Scholarship which is chosen by family members.
Applications are available starting February 1, with a deadline of April 15 for the written application. Finalists will be invited to participate in video interviews and award decisions will be made by May 15.
2023 Scholarships
Our local high school students are so inspiring! This year we had an impressive group of students apply for Maps scholarships from across Marion and Polk counties. They shared their academic achievements, community involvement, and future goals with the selection committee. Creative videos highlighted their personal stories and how a Maps scholarship would help make their educational dreams a reality.
The Maps Community Foundation is pleased to be awarding a total of $46,000 in scholarships this year to 24 Mid-Willamette Valley graduating seniors to support the next chapter in their educational journeys. Scholarships range in size from $500 to $3,500 for the 2023-24 school year. You can read more about each of the recipients below and watch our latest video to learn more about one winner, Alex Ochoa, who attends West Salem High School and works with our Maps Titan Branch. Alex shares how the Maps Credit Union Scholarship will make a difference for him and his family.
